Mubadala executives meet with international leaders during the World Economic Forum |
|
The
World Economic Forum (WEF) is an organization that brings
together the foremost global business, political, and intellectual
leaders and provides a platform for discussion about improving
issues that impact the state of the world.
|
| "All eyes are on Abu Dhabi. Mubadala is well known by the people we met with, and highly regarded as a partner of choice based on our positive track-record over the past few years," said Suhail Al Ansari, Mubadala Healthcare. |
During this year’s annual
meeting Khaldoon Al Mubarak, Waleed Al Mokarrab Al Muhairi
and Suhail Al Ansari met with several high profile individuals
including Bill Clinton, Former President of the U.S.; Nursultan
Nazarbayev, President of Kazakhstan; Alvaro Uribe Velez, President
of Columbia; Rupert Murdoch, Chairman & CEO of News Corporation
and Peter Loescher, President and CEO of Siemens AG.
WEF is best-known for this
annual meeting that is held in Davos, Switzerland. Davos (as
the annual meeting is commonly referred to) is a conference
where these leaders debate global challenges and discuss solutions
for addressing them.
Mubadala has been a member
of WEF for several years. Membership in WEF and attendance
at Davos and regional meetings each year raises Abu Dhabi
and Mubadala's profiles at an international level. Participation
in WEF emphasizes the importance of communications with our
external stakeholders. It also gives us an opportunity to
hold private meetings with global leaders in a central location.
Discussions with these prominent
figures of state and business centered around Abu Dhabi's
long-term economic vision and Mubadala's participation in
this vision as the catalyst for and reflection of the drive
for economic diversification.
"All eyes are on Abu Dhabi.
Mubadala is well known by the people we met with, and highly
regarded as a partner of choice based on our positive track-record
over the past few years. There is much interest in working
with Abu Dhabi through us," said Suhail Al Ansari, who attended
the meetings with Khaldoon and Waleed. "It is exciting and
encouraging to note that everyone we met with had an accurate
understanding of Mubadala's vision and operating model, and
our commitment to building businesses to help create robust
industry sectors."
As a company we often talk about the fact that Mubadala has moved into the international arena, and knowing that such high profile individuals are aware and interested in Mubadala emphasizes that point. |

The last week in January saw
Mubadala Healthcare as a headline sponsor and exhibitor at
Arab Health Exhibition and Congress in Dubai. The exhibition
is the largest of its kind in the region and a global event
in the healthcare calendar, attracting around 50,000 healthcare
professionals from around the world.
The Mubadala Healthcare stand
showcased eight of the current and upcoming projects that
will form part of an integrated network of world-class healthcare
facilities in Abu Dhabi.
Joining the home team were
representatives from its international partners such as Cleveland
Clinic, LabCorp, Korea's Wooridul Spine Hospital & Singapore's
AsiaMedic, who displayed plans for new facilities currently
under construction, while doctors from Imperial College London
Diabetes Centre and Abu Dhabi Knee & Sports Medicine Centre
discussed the tremendous operational successes they have enjoyed
over the past two years.
In addition, the congress
also featured several doctors from Mubadala's network of facilities
and partners as speakers.
As the new facilities come out of the ground and we prepare for their opening dates, the focus now is on attracting best-in-class medical expertise to staff them. Arab Health 2009 gave us the chance to meet with medical professionals from around the world and the team is already planning to make the most of this opportunity again next year. |

Professional Development Tip of the Month: |
Don’t procrastinate, do it today |
Even the
best employees put off working on projects they don't enjoy.
However, procrastination can become a bad habit that gets
in the way of job satisfaction and individual success.
If you find yourself procrastinating,
break up a project into smaller, more manageable tasks. For
example, if you plan to lead a meeting, develop the agenda
first, then work on each agenda item one at a time until you've
completed the prep work.
Completing assignments quickly and efficiently is just one trait of a successful professional, but it's essential for anyone who wants to continue advancing in their career. |
