3. Bond road show

4. One Mubadala workshops – great first step!

Need to improve

Examples from employees of areas we need to improve...

1. Punctuality

2. Communication within and between units

3. Following through on our commitments

Throughout the month of June over 300 employees attended the One Mubadala workshops to explore our new brand model and discuss the concept of One Mubadala, both of which will guide us as we continue to grow and evolve as a company.

Employees discussed their individual communication styles, and agreed on actions they would personally undertake to help us truly become One Mubadala.

Employee comments

"The most important thing I learned at the workshop is that Mubadala is about people. This phrase being heard from senior management made me feel valued, and when someone develops this high sense of worth, he or she will give more and build a positive spirit, having a contagious affect to all those who come in contact."
Annie Kaninia

"It was a great workshop. We enjoyed the agenda and needed such activities to get to know each other. We learned a lot, and honestly thank you."
Hasan Al Attas

"I enjoyed learning about LIFO and getting to know colleagues from other units. It would be great if the next steps could include messaging training about the Mubadala story."
Sara Badri

Follow-up survey

Almost 100 people completed the follow-up survey, sharing their thoughts on the workshop and expressing their commitment to being One Mubadala. Based on survey results, people found it useful to understand the new brand model, discuss the concept of One Mubadala, and talk about examples of where we are already living them well. The survey also revealed that people are personally committed to being One Mubadala, and to using behaviors that embody our values.

Overall, the aspect of the workshop that employees enjoyed the most was the opportunity to get to know their colleagues from across the business.

Next steps

Jacquelyn Miller and Mary Hayes from the Communications Unit are visiting the units to share employees' feedback on the workshops, the comments and suggestions received about life at Mubadala, and next steps.

Mubadala welcomes summer interns

by Noel D’souza, HR

Mubadala recently welcomed our second-ever batch of interns for the Mubadala Internship Program (MIP). Eleven international MBA interns from top business schools across Europe and the U.S. have joined Mubadala for the summer. They will work mainly with the Business Units, in addition to the Treasury Unit.

Over the course of the summer, the interns will participate in a number of activities including visits to some of Mubadala’s subsidiaries, such as ADAT, Aldar Properties, Dolphin Energy and Masdar. They have also spent a day volunteering at a local organization, as described in the article below.

Please join us in welcoming the class and wishing the interns a wonderful experience with Mubadala!

Interns’ volunteer day at Gulf Autism Center

by Hind Al Shamsi and Marius Vygantas, HR

Interns’ volunteer day at Gulf Autism Center

Our HR and Admin Unit (L&D Team) in collaboration with Takatof organized a visit to the Gulf Autism Center as a volunteer day for the summer interns. The group spent time at the Center in the morning and also fit in a visit to the Sheikh Zayed Mosque. The day concluded with cake and gifts from Mubadala.

There were some amazing moments during the day as the group sang, danced, and interacted with the students with various levels of autism. By the end of the day everyone meshed splendidly to make the day’s program come together. It was truly a touching and fun filled event, the memories of which will be etched in everyone’s hearts for a long time to come.

Corporate social responsibility at Mubadala

by Hanan Harhara, Communications

The Communications Unit is currently undertaking a review of what Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) should look like at Mubadala. The outcome of this review will be an agreement on the scale and scope of Mubadala’s CSR framework.

Following this process, which will take place during the next three months, a pilot program will be launched in MOG, Energy & Industry and Services. A framework that includes policies and guidelines will also be developed for Mubadala and its affiliates to help develop specific programs of activities appropriate for their businesses. This framework will cover all aspects of CSR, including an evaluation of the areas of priority, volunteering programs and scale of investment for our corporate giving. Stay tuned to hear the results of the pilot program near the end of the year.

If you have any questions about our CSR program or the organizations we currently support, contact Hanan Harhara in Communications, hharhara@mubadala.ae, or extension 0009.

GE & Mubadala Sign Commercial Finance Joint Venture (JV) Agreement

Mubadala and GE announced the signing of a commercial finance joint venture agreement, and the establishment of a regional training centre for next-generation business leaders.

Key elements of these initiatives include:

  • Commercial Finance Joint Venture: The venture, headquartered in Abu Dhabi, will have two strategic pillars; access to investment opportunities generated through GE Capital’s existing global origination platform; and the building of a Middle East & Africa platform that highlights both partners’ capabilities and regional presence.
  • Corporate Learning: As part of our mandate to develop future leaders, Mubadala is partnering with GE to establish the Abu Dhabi Leadership Development Center (Abu Dhabi LDC).
